Abstract
The paper highlights the importance of integrating the SEEA (System of Environmental-Economic Accounting) in assessing the environmental impacts of agricultural activities. By studying specific cases related to water resource use for irrigation, consumption data is correlated with sustainability indicators to identify best practices for efficient resource use, reducing ecological footprint and increasing economic resilience. Challenges associated with implementing the SEEA for effective accounting of natural resources, such as the data shortages and limited institutional capacity, pose significant risks to financial estimates and forecasts. In conclusion, the SEEA is an essential tool for the sustainable management of agricultural resources. Its effective implementation could significantly enhance environmental protection while improved transparency and financial accountability in the agribusiness sector in the Republic of Moldova.
